1. Introduction
Relyfes SARL-S, operated by Abhijit Patra and trading under the name Relyfes (hereinafter "Relyfes," "we," "us," or "the Operator"), operates the multivendor marketplace accessible at https://relyfes.com/ (hereinafter "the Platform"). The present Cookie Policy (hereinafter "the Policy") explains in full and transparent terms what cookies and analogous tracking technologies are, how and why Relyfes deploys them on the Platform, what categories of data are collected as a result, and what choices are available to you as a visitor or registered User of the Platform.
The Policy forms an integral part of the Relyfes Privacy Policy, which governs the broader processing of personal data in connection with the Platform and is accessible at https://relyfes.com/. Where cookies result in the collection or processing of personal data relating to an identified or identifiable natural person, such processing is subject to Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 (the "General Data Protection Regulation" or "GDPR"), as well as Directive 2002/58/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 July 2002 concerning the processing of personal data and the protection of privacy in the electronic communications sector (the "ePrivacy Directive"), as amended by Directive 2009/136/EC, and its transposition into Luxembourg law under the Luxembourg Law of 27 February 2011 on electronic communications networks and services. Together, these instruments establish the legal framework governing the storage of information on, and the retrieval of information from, a User's terminal device.
2. What Cookies Are
A cookie is a small text file that a website places on the terminal device (computer, smartphone, tablet, or other internet-enabled device) of a visitor when that visitor accesses the website. Cookies are created by the web server hosting the site and delivered to the visitor's browser, which stores the file and returns it to the server on subsequent visits or page requests. Cookies serve a variety of purposes, ranging from ensuring the technical functionality of the website to tracking user behavior for analytical or advertising objectives.
Beyond traditional cookies, the Platform may employ related technologies that perform comparable functions, including web beacons, pixel tags, local storage objects, and session storage. References to "cookies" throughout this Policy encompass all such technologies unless the context specifically provides otherwise. Some cookies are placed directly by Relyfes (referred to as "first-party cookies"), while others are placed by third-party service providers whose services are integrated into the Platform (referred to as "third-party cookies").
3. Legal Basis for Using Cookies
Under the combined requirements of the ePrivacy Directive and the GDPR, cookies may only be stored on a User's device, or information retrieved from a User's device, with the User's prior informed consent, except where such cookies are strictly necessary for the provision of a service explicitly requested by the User. Accordingly, Relyfes distinguishes between strictly necessary cookies, which do not require consent, and all other categories of cookies, which are deployed only upon receipt of freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous consent within the meaning of Article 4(11) and Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR.
When you first access the Platform, a cookie consent banner or consent management tool is presented to you. Through that interface, you may accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies, or configure your preferences by category. Your choices are recorded and respected for subsequent visits, subject to the retention periods described in Section 7 below. You retain the right to withdraw your consent at any time, and to revise your cookie preferences, by accessing the cookie settings tool available on the Platform or by contacting info@relyfes.com. Withdrawal of consent shall not affect the lawfulness of any processing conducted on the basis of consent prior to its withdrawal.
4. Categories of Cookies Used on the Platform
The cookies deployed on the Platform are organized into four functional categories, as described below.
4.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
Strictly necessary cookies are indispensable to the basic technical operation of the Platform. Without them, core features such as account authentication, session management, and the shopping cart cannot function. Because these cookies are required to deliver a service you have explicitly requested, they are deployed without your consent, as permitted under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive. You may disable them through your browser settings, but doing so will impair or entirely prevent your ability to use the Platform.
Examples of strictly necessary cookies deployed on the Platform include:
Shopify session cookies: Shopify, as the Platform's infrastructure provider, sets session cookies to maintain your logged-in status, preserve cart contents across page navigations, and authenticate secure checkout sessions. These cookies are first-party in nature and are essential to transaction processing.
Security cookies: Cookies used to detect and prevent fraudulent or abusive behavior on the Platform, including CSRF (cross-site request forgery) tokens that protect against unauthorized form submissions.
Cookie consent cookies: A small cookie is set to record your consent choices so that the consent banner is not displayed on every page load during a single browsing session or a defined subsequent period.
4.2 Functional (Preference) Cookies
Functional cookies enable the Platform to remember choices you make, such as your preferred language, currency display settings, or regional preferences, so that a more personalized and consistent experience can be provided across sessions. Without these cookies, preferences would need to be re-entered each time you visit. Functional cookies do not track your activity across other websites and do not serve any advertising purpose. Where functional cookies involve the processing of personal data beyond what is strictly required for technical necessity, they are deployed only upon your consent.
4.3 Analytics and Performance Cookies
Analytics cookies collect aggregated information about how visitors use the Platform, including which pages are visited most frequently, how long visits last, from which referral sources visitors arrive, and where Users encounter errors or drop off during the checkout process. The data collected by analytics cookies is used solely for the purpose of improving the performance and content of the Platform; it is not used to identify individual visitors in the context of direct marketing or behavioral advertising.
The Platform's infrastructure is built on Shopify, whose internal analytics tools may deploy performance-oriented cookies to collect usage data. Relyfes does not independently integrate Google Analytics or equivalent standalone analytics platforms at the time of publication of this Policy. Should any such integration be introduced in the future, this Policy will be updated accordingly and Users will be asked for fresh consent where required.
4.4 Marketing and Targeting Cookies
At the time of publication of this Policy, Relyfes does not deploy dedicated third-party marketing or advertising cookies, including social media pixel technologies such as Facebook Pixel or Google Ads remarketing tags, on the Platform as a matter of deliberate configuration. Should Relyfes introduce such technologies in the future, whether through native Shopify integrations or independently added scripts, the Policy will be revised in advance of their deployment, and affected Users will be informed and invited to provide fresh consent in accordance with Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, certain Shopify-native components may set cookies that have an indirect commercial dimension, such as cookies that enable Shopify's own conversion tracking or Shop Pay functionality. Where such cookies extend beyond strict technical necessity, they will be classified under the appropriate category within the consent management tool.
5. Third-Party Cookies and Service Providers
Relyfes exercises no direct control over the cookies set by third-party providers operating within the bounds of their own platforms. Where third-party providers set cookies that are not strictly necessary for core Platform functionality, Relyfes requires, through its contractual arrangements with such providers, that such cookies are activated only where the relevant User consent has been collected through the Platform's consent management tool.
6. Managing and Disabling Cookies
Several mechanisms are available to you for managing your cookie preferences, both at the Platform level and at the device or browser level.
6.1 Platform Consent Tool
Upon your first visit to the Platform, you are presented with a cookie consent interface through which you may accept all categories of cookies, reject all non-essential cookies, or selectively enable or disable individual categories. Your preferences are recorded and applied for subsequent visits. You may return to and amend your preferences at any time through the cookie settings link available in the footer of every page on the Platform.
6.2 Browser-Level Controls
All major web browsers provide settings through which users may block or delete cookies independently of any website-level consent mechanism. Guidance on managing cookies in commonly used browsers is available at the following official resources:
Google Chrome: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95647
Mozilla Firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/enable-and-disable-cookies-website-preferences
Microsoft Edge: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/delete-cookies-in-microsoft-edge-63947406-40ac-c3b8-57b9-2a946a29ae09
Apple Safari: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/safari/sfri11471/mac
Please note that disabling cookies at the browser level, particularly strictly necessary cookies, may affect the functionality of the Platform, including the ability to complete purchases or maintain an authenticated session.
7. Retention Periods
Cookies are retained for varying periods depending on their category and function. Session cookies expire automatically at the end of the browsing session, i.e., when the browser window is closed. Persistent cookies remain stored on the device for a defined period following the session in which they were set.
As a general framework, the retention periods applicable to the principal categories of cookies on the Platform are as follows:
Strictly necessary session cookies: Expire at the end of each browser session.
Strictly necessary persistent cookies (e.g., cart and authentication): Retained for a period of up to 14 days following the last interaction, or until the User logs out, whichever occurs first.
Consent preference cookies: Retained for up to 12 months from the date of initial consent registration, after which the consent interface will again be presented to the User.
Functional cookies: Retained for up to 12 months from the date of last Platform interaction.
Analytics cookies: Retained for up to 13 months from the date of placement, in line with the guidance issued by the Article 29 Working Party (now the European Data Protection Board) on analytics cookies.
Marketing cookies (if and when activated): Retention periods will be specified at the time of activation and shall not exceed 13 months.
8. Amendments to This Policy
Relyfes reserves the right to update the present Policy at any time to reflect changes in the cookies deployed on the Platform, modifications to the services of third-party providers, or evolving legal requirements. Material changes will be communicated to registered Users in advance of their effective date via the email address associated with their account and through a prominent notice on the Platform. The version of the Policy currently in force, identified by the date of last revision at the top of the document, shall remain accessible at https://relyfes.com/ at all times.
